Drone photo illustrating: Drone Incident and Post-Mission Report Template

Drone Incident and Post-Mission Report Template

A field-tested structure for documenting every public safety drone mission — and when the FAA must be notified.

Mission details

Mission identifier, requesting organization, operating framework (Part 107, COA or SGI), date, location and times, remote pilot in command, visual observers and other personnel with roles.

Aircraft, sensors and airspace

Aircraft and serial number, sensors and payloads, battery count, airspace class, authorization or LAANC reference, NOTAM and TFR check, weather and pre-flight risk assessment.

Data captured and evidence transfer

Imagery and video captured, storage location, hash values where used, who received the data and when, and any redactions applied.

Safety events and corrective actions

Any safety event, deviation from procedure, equipment malfunction or near miss, with root cause and corrective action. Under Part 107, accidents involving serious injury, loss of consciousness, or property damage above the FAA threshold must be reported to the FAA within 10 calendar days — check the current rule rather than relying on this summary.

Review and sign-off

Supervisor review, approval signatures, lessons learned and date filed. Keep reports with flight logs for audits and program reporting.
